Amateur Division

In 2010 the AQHA changed rules surrounding Amateur classes. If an Amateur or Amateur Select class has less than 2 entries they will be combined. (Reference the 2011 AQHA Rule Book for specific rules regarding points and awards, pages 101-109).

Last year at the end of our award qualifying period, the NCQHA Points Secretary (with the approval of the board) moved the appropriate state points from the applicable Amateur classes into the appropriate Select classes.

The NCQHA board has approved that we permanently implement this process for state points toward year end awards effective immediately. This is consistent with splitting the youth classes into the appropriate age divisions and splitting Junior and Senior Horses in Open classes when they are combined. If any NCQHA approved show has to combine Select & Amateur classes or does not offer a Select class in Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Hunter under Saddle, Trail or Hunt Seat Equitation the state points earned will automatically be moved into the appropriate Select class towards year end awards and high points.  All other Amateur classes will remain the same. If you turn 50 during the calendar year, your points will move into the Select division.
