Membership Information

     Invest $25-$35 and become a member of one of the largest, friendliest, and active groups of horse folks in North Carolina: the North Carolina Quarter Horse Association! NCQHA has over 700 active members. A copy of the membership form is available in PDF format or contact the NCQHA secretary. Also be sure to check out the NCQHA Constitution (updated January 2006).
  
Highlights of NCQHA's activities are outlined below...
  
    NCQHA Crisis Fund
The NCQHA Crisis Fund was established in 2002 to help NCQHA members with emergency disasters and situation as they arise. The Crisis Fund is supported solely by contributions from members and acquaintances and through the Silent Auction at the annual convention. These contributions are not tax deductible. Applications for assistance should be completed and returned to any of the Crisis Fund Committee members. Those members are Judy Sullivan, Treasurer, Susan Harrill, Chairman, Jim Settle, Pam Settle, and Steve Reams.     Futurity Extravaganza
Held in September at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, the NCQHA Futurity is one of the best in the country.
  • Halter Futurity: A one time payment, with first deadline August 15, and final entries the day of the show. Entries after the August deadline pay a late nomination fee in addition to regular required fees.
  • Non-Pro Futurity: Includes weanlings, yearlings at halter along with performance classes, which include yearling longe line, hunter under saddle classes, pleasure classes, and NSBA approved classes.
  • Performance Futurity: Includes weanling & yearling halter classes, English & Western Performance classes, longe line classes, and NSBA approved classes. All classes require an Individual AQHA Open, Amateur, or Youth membership to be eligible to show.
  • Breeders Futurity: Includes special halter & performance classes, along with a Breeders Longe Line Class, for offspring of breedings purchased in the annual Stallion Auction held each year.
  • North Carolina Born & Bred: A special division for North Carolina Born & Bred & Shown, will be called the "NC BRED LIMITED CLASSIC", and was inaugurated in 2001.
    NCQHA Youth Association
Membership consists of boys and girls 18 & under. Membership is paid directly to the parent organization, either as an individual membership or included in a family membership. The objectives of the Youth Association are to promote pride of ownership of the registered American Quarter Horse and the development of leadership, initiative, self-reliance, and sportsmanship. The Youth also work toward state points on their horses and receive year-end awards. NCQHA is proud of their youth teams, which have excelled at the World Championship Show in Ft. Worth, Texas and the Congress Team Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
 
    NCQHA Amateur Association
NCQHA has a very active Amateur Association, which sponsors various awards at the State Sponsored shows and produces clinics designed to help the novice amateur with pointers and guidelines to become competitive in their respective classes.
  
    Trail Ride
NCQHA hosts an annual ride each year in conjunction with the AQHA Ride program. The ride is usually held in September in the western part of the state. Miles of mountain trails, with spectacular scenery are available, along with luxury homes that can be rented for the weekend if desired.
  
    Scholarships
NCQHA provides scholarships each year for deserving individuals. These scholarships are presented to further the education of exceptional youth from NCQHYA. Applications are available through the Harriet Lynn Norris Scholarship Fund.
